Acceptance

It is something we all strive for. Why?

Society states we need to be a certain way, to do things with in ‘the norm’. To get that dream job, to attract the right people, to hang onto you friends, to make your family proud………..the list goes on and on. So again I ask, why?

Fear.

Fear of not being liked, wanted, hired, included……

Sound familiar? Along with acceptance comes tolerance.

We are all different. We have different wants and needs. Despite what some may think , we are not all perfect paper dolls. We all have different strengths, weaknesses, quirks, habits and values. Step one of acceptance is understanding self.

Know what kind of person you are and be that person with honesty. Do what is right for you even if it means standing alone for a time. As I constantly say…..treat people well, be kind, not just to others, but to yourself. Accept who you are. Be happy with that. Once you do this you will find that you collect the right people, find the right job for you and begin to build that strength and belief in yourself.

Step two is tolerance of others. Remember, they too are different. You may not agree with all that others do……you don’t need to. If they treat you and others with kindness and honesty that’s all you need to concern yourself with.

Sometimes things happen in our lives that we just can’t or don’t understand. I am a believer of letting go of things outside my control. We all get so busy trying to fix everything that we lose ourselves in the process. So step three is learning to accept the fact that there are some things we will never understand, never be able to change and we are not meant to.

We can all live happily with our differences within our circle once we accept ourselves and stop being so critical of others. Life is way too short to live a life of judgment. So be yourself, love yourself, welcome the differences in others……….it’s those differences that keeps this big, beautiful world spinning.
